A 5-year-old boy was hospitalised after he was hit by a car on Monday morning, police said in a statement.

Police said that the boy was hit in a traffic accident in Triq l-Imdina in Qormi at around 7:30am on Monday.

The car involved in the accident was a Toyota IQ which was being driven by a 30-year-old man from Marsaskala.

The boy was given medical care on site and then taken to Mater Dei Hospital by an ambulance, where he was certified as suffering from grievous injuries.
