Fire engines turned up in Birkirkara Hill St Julian's this morning as a fire was reported in a block of apartments.
A fire alarm was triggered when someone smelt smoke.
Civil Protection Department officials investigated the premises but no fire was located.
People living there were evacuated as a precaution.
Police, an ambulance and nurses were also on site.
