An industrial fire in San Gwann has been brought under control by thge Civil Protection Department, the government entity said Thursday evening.

Posting on Facebook, it had urged the public to avoid the area due to safety concerns and ongoing emergency response operations.

“Residents in nearby towns and villages including San Gwann and Swatar are advised to keep all doors and windows closed as a precaution against smoke and fumes.”

In an update, the CPD said it had brought the fire under control and that no injuries were reported.

It said it used 120,000 litres of water to control the blaze, with 45 firefighters and six senior fire officers employed in the operation.
