The Ministry for Justice has issued a call for the appointment of two judges, a government statement said.

Applicants who satisfy the criteria established in the Constitution of Malta and who express their interest will be assessed by the Judicial Appointments Committee, established in terms of Article 96A of the Constitution, it said.

Following this evaluation process, the names of three candidates for each position will be submitted for the consideration and selection of the President.

The statement said that the call further confirms the Ministry's commitment to continue strengthening the largest judiciary in the history of the country.

This follows the appointment of one judge and three magistrates on Thursday, it said.

Minister for Justice Jonathan Attard spoke of the ongoing and consistent commitment to strengthening the judiciary, which complements the various reforms currently underway in Malta's justice sector.

He said that the strengthening of human resources and specialisation is the means through which standards are being raised, with the aim of increasing efficiency in the sector.

Interested candidates are required to submit their application together with all relevant documentation by no later than Friday 20 February 2026, by 12pm, to the Secretary of the Judicial Appointments Committee.
