Civil Protection Department officers on Wednesday rescued a dog which fell into an 11-metre well, the department said on its Facebook page.

CPD rescuers from Fire Station 2 responded to an animal rescue incident in Swatar, Birkirkara, after a Border Collie fell into a well approximately 11 metres deep, the CPD said.

Using specialised rope access techniques, CPD rescuers successfully and safely retrieved the distressed dog. The animal was rescued without injury and handed over for further care.

The CPD thanked Animal Welfare Malta for their assistance and support during this operation.
