Non-governmental organizations that directly assist the disciplined dorces in the interest of safer citizens and in providing help at moments of need have been awarded funds by the Civil Protection Department within the Ministry for Home Affairs, Security and Employment, enabling them to continue delivering greater benefits to society.

The ongoing collaboration between the Department and these non-governmental entities significantly strengthens Malta's capacity to respond efficiently and effectively to emergencies, disasters, and community needs, always in the best interest of the Maltese people.

Through these financial grants, funding has been provided to the following organizations: St John Ambulance, Malta Red Cross, The Emergency Fire & Rescue Unit, Emergency Response & Rescue Corps Gozo, K9 Search & Rescue Malta, K9 Urban Search & Rescue Malta, Malta Amateur Radio League, and St John's Rescue Corps.

In major incidents such as fires, floods, storms, and search and rescue operations, among others, these entities provide vital support to the Civil Protection Department.

They are able to offer such support also because they take part in joint training, including preparedness exercises for every eventuality. They also collaborate on awareness and public education campaigns, first aid and medical care training, simulation exercises, and coordinated operational protocols. Such exercises help personnel become familiar with each other's operational procedures so that, in moments of need, they can deliver the highest level of service. The annual financial assistance, which this year amounts to €40,000, translates into increased preparedness and operational capacity for these non-governmental entities.

Minister Byron Camilleri, speaking about this initiative, explained that "these funds are a direct investment in Maltese families, because through the services provided by these non-governmental entities, our citizens are being better protected. These organizations also act as a strong pillar alongside our disciplined forces in the moments when they are most needed. We thank them for the dedicated and valuable work they carry out for Malta."
