Malta Enterprise scheme amended to assist businesses damaged by recent storm

Friday, 6 February 2026, 09:21 Last update: about 8 months ago

The Business Development scheme operated by Malta Enterprise will be amended to include the refurbishment and restoration of businesses that suffered damages caused by the heavy storm that hit our country on 20 January, the agency said Friday.

Through this scheme, businesses that have suffered damage in excess of €7,000 in damages will be able to apply for 60% of their expenses. Support from Malta Enterprise in each particular case will not exceed €20,000 and works must have been certified by an engineer or an architect. Businesses which have suffered damages up to a maximum of €5,000 can make use of schemes issued by Transport Malta.

Affected businesses may submit a request for assistance under this scheme and must ensure that their operations comply with the necessary permits. In the case of non-compliant businesses, one can still apply but will be given one year to regularise operations via applicable permits, after which, they can benefit from this scheme.

Businesses will have until 13 February 2026 to register the need for assistance by sending an email on [email protected]. Business First will continue to assist anyone registering to apply. In their application, businesses must provide photographs of the damages they have suffered, as well as an estimate of costs.
