The first edition of Kwareżima - Arti, Kult u Tradizzjoni will take place on Saturday 7 and Sunday 8 March at Verdala Palace, with proceeds going towards the Malta Community Chest Fund.

The event will feature exhibitions, choral and band performances, concerts, and discussions led by writers and experts on Holy Week traditions. Activities are planned for all age groups, including children.

Sunday's programme includes Mass in the palace chapel, Passion-themed displays, a Biblical walk, a children's procession, and a penitential procession inspired by the traditional Black Procession of Birgu.

The initiative was launched during a press conference at Verdala Palace, addressed by Myriam Spiteri Debono, who said the event aims to foster appreciation of Maltese traditions while supporting charitable causes.

Organiser Brian Bonnici explained that the exhibition brings together works by artists, church collections, and private collectors-some displayed publicly for the first time-including life-sized statues and religious artefacts. He added that more than 100 children are expected to participate in the Sunday afternoon procession.

Sina Bugeja, Chairperson of the Malta Community Chest Fund, highlighted the value of such initiatives in nurturing cultural awareness and civic responsibility from a young age.

Tickets are available online and on site, starting from a €10 donation, granting access to a full day of activities from 9.30am until late evening.
