Richard Cole's exhibition A View, to be held at art..e gallery in Victoria, Gozo from 28 February to 21 March 2026, marks his second show at this space following his successful presentation in December 2023.

The exhibition features new works alongside a selection of original pieces created for his book Malta & Gozo: An Artist's View, published by Miller in March 2019.

Among the new paintings are a watercolour of the interior of St John's Co‑Cathedral, two views of Sannat Church, an oil painting depicting the exterior of Tapie's Bar in Victoria with its patrons, a lively street scene with tourists at The Castle Bar, and several works portraying religious processions. The exhibition also includes an evocative oil painting of the interior of one of the iconic vintage Maltese buses, complete with the religious shrines that fascinated Cole during his first visit to Malta in 1976.

Many of the scenes Cole painted during his early trips to Gozo have since disappeared. The original drawings on display reveal how dramatically Victoria has changed over the years, with many of the places where he once sat to sketch now built over. As the artist reflects, time has indeed marched on.
