Maria Briffa Bell discovered her passion for art later in life, beginning her studies in both the practical and historical aspects of the discipline at the age of fifty. From that moment she never looked back. Her dedication led her to complete a diploma at the Malta School of Art, and with time she gained the confidence and experience to exhibit her work - first within collective exhibitions, and eventually through solo shows.

It was within this artistic journey that she met Joseph Baldacchino. Although Joseph had always been drawn to painting, it was only in 2015 that he decided to pursue it seriously, enrolling in a formal course at MCAST and later studying under artist George Farrugia at the Malta School of Art. Like Maria, he began by participating in collective exhibitions before presenting his solo exhibition, Ispirazzjoni.

Despite their differing approaches, Maria and Joseph found a natural synergy in their work, collaborating in several joint exhibitions over the years. For their latest project, they chose to expand this creative dialogue by inviting a third artist: Sean Briffa, Maria's son.

Sean has been drawing since childhood, but at thirteen he discovered the world of performance art, which soon became his primary artistic path. Theatre opened countless avenues - writing, directing, building props and puppets, and performing. Yet visual art remained a quiet ember within him. With encouragement from his mother and his daughter, that ember has reignited, and Sean is once again fully immersed in painting.

Together, these three artists - each with a distinct voice, history, and creative rhythm - present a shared exhibition at Il‑Razzett tal‑Marquis, Mosta, opening today and running until 22 February. Their works, though diverse in style and spirit, converge in a celebration of inspiration, family, and the enduring pull of artistic expression.
