Total outbound tourist trips in 2025 numbered 929,645, an increase of 10.2 per cent over 2024, the NSO said Wednesday.

Total nights spent by outbound tourists went up by 20.3 per cent, reaching 6.9 million nights. In addition, total estimated outlay by resident tourists stood at €952.4 million, 18.5 per cent higher than that recorded in 2024.

Total outbound tourists for the fourth quarter in 2025 were estimated at 268,619, an increase of 19.3 per cent over the corresponding quarter of 2024. Total nights spent increased by 29.7 per cent and amounted to 1,999,303.

During the quarter under review, a total of 174,618 outbound tourist trips were undertaken for holiday purposes, followed by 63,261 trips for visiting friends and relatives. Most outbound tourists were aged between 25 and 44 years (47.2 per cent), followed by those within the 45-64 age bracket (30.2 per cent).

Outbound tourists towards EU and non-EU countries increased by 16.0 and 29.3 per cent respectively, when compared to the same quarter of 2024. Italy remained the most popular destination, with a share of 32.2 per cent of total tourist trips.

Total nights spent by outbound tourists in the fourth quarter of 2024 reached 2.0 million nights. The largest share of guest nights (55.3 per cent) was spent in non-rented accommodation establishments. The average length of stay of total outbound tourists stood at 7.4 nights.

Total estimated expenditure by outbound tourists between October and December stood at €270.6 million, equivalent to an average €1,007 per capita.
