Seventy individuals were arrested after being found in the country illegally, the police said.

The circumstances of these arrests suggested that the individuals were present for work purposes without possessing the necessary permits and licenses, which constitutes a violation of the Immigration Act.

These inspections took place across several sectors, specifically targeting public transport, passenger vehicles, and construction sites. Those detained originated from a wide range of countries, including Syria, Nigeria, Nepal, Ivory Coast, Ghana, Mali, Gambia, Niger, Yemen, Jordan, Pakistan, and India.

All the individuals involved are currently being held at a detention center while the legal process for their removal from the country is finalized.

This enforcement action was carried out in coordination with JobsPlus and Identità, with officers from the Detention Services Agency also providing assistance to the police throughout the operation.
