Two people are in hospital after a motorcycle hit a pedestrian who was crossing the Kappara bypass, police said in a statement on Sunday.

The accident happened at around 7:45am in Triq Mikiel Anton Vassalli in Gżira, in the stretch of road right before the Kappara fly-over.

Police said in a statement that the accident involved a Kawasaki motorcycle which was being ridden by a 50-year-old man who lives in Fgura and a 24-year-old woman who lives in St Paul’s Bay, who was crossing the road.

Both people were taken to Mater Dei Hospital for care and both were certified as suffering from grievous injuries.

Police said that investigations are ongoing.
