A rare open weekend for art lovers

This weekend Anna Galea is opening her studio to the public - art lovers, students, families with children and anyone interested in painting.

Galea is an award-winning artist based between Malta and Rome, best known for her exceptionally large still life paintings and abstractions. Her works have been exhibited widely across Europe's main cities as well as in New York, Washington, Qingdao China, South Korea, Abu Dhabi and Dubai.

These two large-scale watercolour paintings are planned to be exhibited in Tokyo in September.

Galea zooms into ordinary mundane subjects and dramatises them, reminding us there is beauty in every-day objects that we tend to take for granted. Her recent works venture into abstractions.

Galea's favourite painting medium is watercolour which she applies boldly and intensely in large scale works. Her watercolour work has in fact been honoured as masterful in Europe and the US and she was a featured artist conducting masterclass watercolour demonstrations at the International Watercolour Society Conventions in Italy, Dubai, Turkey, Poland and China. A landmark in her career was when her art was selected to be exhibited at the prestigious Biennale of Florence in 2023.
