Triq Ras in-Newwiela in Ta’ Sannat, Triq Wied Juno and Triq Għajn Abdul in Kerċem have been completed, while works are ongoing on Triq Ta’ Spiteri, also in Kerċem, the Gozo Ministry announced on Monday.

After water mains were replaced by the Water Services Corporation (WSC) in parts of Triq Seguna and Triq Ras in-Newwiela in Ta’ Sannat, these sections of residential roads were resurfaced and given a new finish. Extensive works were also carried out to rebuild secondary roads connecting the village of Kerċem as well as Santa Luċija to the village of San Lawrenz. The project in Kerċem covers a total length of 2.7 kilometres, spanning approximately 18,000 square metres.

Minister Clint Camilleri explained that “this is a secondary link that will serve not only nearby farmers, but these two kilometres of roads will also provide better secondary access between the two villages. This is an investment funded by European Funds, and Triq Wied Juno and Triq Għajn Abdul are now practically complete. Final works are also currently underway on Triq Ta’ Spiteri, which is expected to be completed in the coming weeks. This is an investment in our roads — an investment in residential roads, as well as in rural roads like those here, which also provide good access to residential areas.”

Through this investment, access is being strengthened for 57 farmers, connectivity is being improved for 92 agricultural plots, mobility for agricultural vehicles and essential services is being enhanced, and rural infrastructure is being reinforced to support the sustainable development of Gozitan agriculture.

Minister Clint Camilleri concluded by stating that work will continue so that, road by road, the promise of 100 residential roads over three years will be fulfilled.
