ADPD - The Green Party Deputy Chairperson Carmel Cacopardo has submitted two Freedom of Information requests to the Office of the Prime Minister and the Ministry for Justice seeking detailed records of communications between government officials and members of the judiciary.
The requests ask for copies of any form of correspondence exchanged with members of the judiciary, including but not limited to messages sent via WhatsApp, SMS, Signal, email, or traditional letters. The request also covers voice messages and any other recorded or drafted communication. Exchanges that took place publicly in open court are excluded.
Among the members of the judiciary referenced are Judge Lawrence Mintoff and Chief Justice Mark Chetcuti, although the request is not limited to these individuals.
In addition to correspondence, Cacopardo has requested information about any meetings held between representatives of the Office of the Prime Minister or the Ministry for Justice and members of the judiciary, excluding meetings conducted in open court. The information sought includes the date, location, time, duration, matters discussed, and the names of those in attendance.
The requests come after a letter sent by Judge Wenzu Mintoff to the Cabinet Secretary.
