PN Whip Robert Cutajar has announced that he will not be contesting the next general election.

Speaking at a political activity in Mellieha, he said that Borg had asked him to recontest, but he has opted not to, adding that he will continue to remain part of the Nationalist Party.

Cutajar said that he is proud to be part of the party, and spoke about his time in politics. He mentioned his time being mayor of Mellieha, and also his time in Parliament. He also said it was a privilege to have served as mayor of the locality.

He praised former Prime Minister Lawrence Gonzi, who he described as his mentor.

The MP thanked Alex Borg and the leadership of the PN for the full confidence shown in him until the very end, and pledged to continue supporting both the Party Leader and the PN. He said that he will continue to occupy the role of Whip and will continue working in Parliament until the end of the legislature.

He said he is proud to be Maltese, from Mellieha, and a Nationalist.

Borg walked over to Cutajar and the two embraced.
