An Atelier, a new educational space, was inaugurated on Wednesday at St Ignatius College, Ġuże Muscat Azzopardi, Qormi San Bastjan Primary School, with the aim of further strengthening creative and innovative education for children, with an emphasis on learning through experience and exploration.

During the inauguration, the Minister for Education, Sport, Youth, Research and Innovation, Clifton Grima, emphasised that this initiative represents an important step in the way we understand and experience children’s education. He explained that the Atelier educational space is not only a new space within the school, but an environment that encourages creativity, exploration and imagination, placing children at the centre of their learning.

Minister Grima explained that the concept of the Atelier is based on the idea that children learn not only through books or the traditional classroom, but also through practical experiences. Through various activities and different materials, children can express their ideas and discover the world around them in different ways.

This space includes several educational experiences related to nature, light and shadow, working with clay and sculpture, music and sound, water exploration, as well as the field of storytelling and creative writing. These experiences help develop important skills in children such as imagination, creativity, critical thinking and collaboration.

While the Head of School, Josephine Baldacchino, explained the work that was carried out, the Assistant Head of School, Geraldine Degabriele Pace, further explained in detail the concept behind this project and how this Atelier will serve as a space where children can experiment, express their creativity and learn through experience. She said that through this educational environment, children will have the opportunity to explore various materials and activities that encourage imagination, curiosity and active learning.

Minister Clifton Grima thanked all those who worked to make this project possible, while emphasising that the Government will continue to invest in educational initiatives that promote creativity, innovation and quality learning for all children.
