SINCuerpo is a solo exhibition by Maltese abstract artist Stefan Carbonaro, opening at Mitħna tal-Għaħba, Naxxar, from 18 March to 5 April 2026. Rooted in restraint and contemplation, the exhibition explores painting as an act of shedding - removing layers, form, and weight to reveal what lies beneath the surface.

The title SINCuerpo - Spanish for "without body" - does not suggest absence as emptiness, but a state reached through release. Here, the body is not depicted but gently left behind, allowing the works to exist as traces of movement, memory, and presence without enclosure.

Created through a physical process of layering, scraping, and removal, Carbonaro's paintings reflect a deliberate shift away from accumulation. The surface is unburdened so that space, texture, and mark may carry meaning. The exhibition environment reinforces this ethos: minimal wall text, generous spacing, and the historic architecture of Mitħna tal-Għaħba invite visitors into a calm, immersive encounter. The experience encourages slowing down, intuitive engagement, and personal reflection on transformation, letting go, and renewal.

Stefan Carbonaro is a Maltese abstract artist whose practice centres on intuitive process, material exploration, and layered surfaces. His previous solo exhibitions include Bewsa, 4Senses, and ColourBlind, alongside numerous collective shows. His work is grounded in disciplined daily practice and an ongoing investigation into reduction, texture, and presence.
