The Parliamentary Secretary for Youth, Research, and Innovation, Keith Azzopardi Tanti, together with the Chief Executive of Aġenzija Żgħażagħ, Miriam Teuma, and the President of the National Band Clubs Association, Dr Noel Camilleri, announced the beneficiaries of the 'Musical Training for Youth in Band Clubs' scheme.

This initiative is a clear testament to the Government's commitment to culture and the young talent of Malta and Gozo, a government statement said Wednesday.

During a ceremony, it was announced that the number of participating band clubs has grown significantly, increasing from 33 in previous years to 57 this year. With a total investment exceeding €130,000, each club can receive up to €3,000 to offer free music tuition to youths up to the age of 30. This funding ensures that no talent is left behind due to a lack of resources.

In his intervention, Parliamentary Secretary Keith Azzopardi Tanti stated: "What we are doing today is the practical application of our promises in the National Youth Policy 2021-2030-a plan that insists on supporting young people to reach their full potential and be protagonists in our communities. Band clubs are much more than music schools; they are centres of formation where young people learn discipline and build self-confidence." He added that this growth reflects an increasing interest in a musical education that is not only structured but modern and attractive to today's generations.

The Chief Executive of Aġenzija Żgħażagħ, Miriam Teuma, highlighted the strong collaboration with the Band Clubs Association. "The success of this initiative rests on the excellent collaboration between Aġenzija Żgħażagħ and the Band Clubs Association. Through methods that reflect excellence and embrace innovation and modern teaching techniques, we are ensuring a vibrant future for our young musicians."

A key highlight of the ceremony was the signing of a new three-year Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between Aġenzija Żgħażagħ and the Band Clubs Association. This agreement will further strengthen the link between the two entities and includes an additional annual grant of €20,000 specifically dedicated to the further development of the Youth Symphonic Band. This direct investment serves as a high-level platform that gives voice and prestige to our young talent on a national level.

Through these initiatives, the Government and Aġenzija Żgħażagħ are ensuring that the voice of music and tradition in our country never subsides but continues to grow stronger in the hands of our most vibrant and capable members, our youths.
