The government is launching a regeneration project for Pjazza Madonna ta' Loreto in Għajnsielem, the Gozo Ministry said in a statement. The project is funded by the Ministry itself and carried out with the Għajnsielem Local Council and parish. 

The aim of the project, according to the Ministry, is to improve the urban environment, increase public comfort and accessibility, and enhance the aesthetic and social value of the square. 

The project forms part of the "Gozo: Island of Villages" strategy and Malta Vision 2050. The Ministry said that the project emphasises sustainability, safety, accessibility, and long-term durability. 

Works will include the removal of deteriorated or incompatible structures, excavation and underground service upgrades, and new high-quality natural paving. Moreover, there will be the installation of urban furniture (such as benches), a modern bus shelter with a glass structure, and a water feature as a focal point. 

The Ministry also said that the project will include improved lighting and electrical systems, CCTV installation for security, and landscaping and irrigation systems. 

"We are investing in an environment that is not only visually beautiful, but also functional, safe and sustainable for everyone," Gozo Minister Clint Camilleri said.
