Parliamentary Secretary for Youth, Research, and Innovation Keith Azzopardi Tanti opened the Malta Statue Collectors Statue Expo 2026 at the Montekristo Arena. This year's exhibition stands as the most ambitious project to date for the Malta Statue Collectors (MSC), a community that has grown from a local Facebook group into a premier platform for artistry and fandom.
The expo features over 100 premium statues, ranging from iconic Marvel and DC legends to cinematic and gaming figures. Beyond the visual spectacle, the event serves an educational purpose, inviting visitors to explore the intersection of science and psychology through the lens of popular characters such as Captain America and Wolverine.
In his opening address, the Parliamentary Secretary emphasized the importance of such platforms for the community. He noted that, "This exhibition is a living testament to the artistry and passion that unite so many people in our country. It is a clear demonstration of how pop culture can be a tool to explore our history, psychology, and identity as a society. Through these initiatives, we are encouraging a space where art and innovation inspire the next generation."
Matthew Mamo, the founder of Malta Statue Collectors, reflected on the journey of the community since its inception in 2021. Under his leadership, alongside Alexei Sammut and Jason Caruana, the group has fostered a supportive environment for local enthusiasts while building international bridges with world-renowned artists.
"Our mission has always been to bring collectors together and celebrate the incredible craftsmanship behind every piece. Seeing this community grow from a digital space to hosting Malta's largest statue expo is a dream come true. We are especially honoured to host international talent like Daniele Angelozzi this year, proving that Malta's passion for this art form resonates on a global scale," stated Matthew Mamo.
The MSC Statue Expo 2026 is open to the public on Saturday, April 18th (11am - 7pm) and Sunday, April 19th (9am - 5pm). Admission to the event is free of charge, offering families and fans a unique opportunity to engage with world-class art and a vibrant community of collectors.
