The Nationalist Party on Wednesday pledged to work to improve the maritime sector, which can also offer exciting, high-quality jobs to Maltese workers, a party statement said.
During a visit to Maritime MT as part of activities related to Workers' Day, PN leader Alex Borg said a Nationalist Government aims to elevate our country to a level of excellence in the maritime sector by strengthening it through an authority fully dedicated to this sector.
He also stated that he wants to strengthen educational institutions that provide training to students in this field, such as Maritime MT, by ensuring that students attending receive a stipend just like students in other post-secondary institutions. This will ensure that our country has the trained workforce it needs to continue investing in the maritime sector.
Borg added that, to begin encouraging students towards a career in this field from a young age, subjects related to the maritime sector should be introduced at secondary school level.
The PN leader said that in the coming days the Party will be launching an important project in the maritime sector, and therefore it is crucial to have a trained workforce in place.
Maritime MT is a private institution that offers training to seafarers and to anyone wishing to develop skills for work related to the maritime sector.
