The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Dr Anġlu Farrugia, attended the General Audience of the Holy Father at the Vatican, marking a significant moment of engagement between Malta and the Holy See.
During the visit, Speaker Farrugia had the honour of participating in the traditional bacciomano, greeting the Pope and conveying the respect and goodwill of the Maltese Parliament and people.
On the sidelines of the General Audience, Speaker of the House of Representative Anġlu Farrugia, also held a meeting with His Eminence Archbishop Paul Richard Gallagher, Secretary for Relations with States. Discussions focused on matters of mutual interest, including international cooperation, peace, and the promotion of shared values at the global level.
The Speaker was accompanied by Ambassador Joseph Cole and Ambassador Frank Zammit, who formed part of the official delegation.
This visit reaffirms the strong and longstanding relations between Malta and the Holy See, as well as their continued collaboration on issues of international importance.
