KM Malta Airlines announced the introduction of special election fares and additional flights to facilitate travel for eligible voters wishing to return to Malta to vote in the forthcoming general election.

A statement said that bookings will open for sale from 4 May to 30 May, and reservations can only be made through the dedicated KM Malta Airlines General Election Call Centre number +356 2141 8118, during the hours of 8am to 8pm, Monday to Sunday. Bookings are subject to availability.

Travel will be permitted during the period of 20 May to 3 June, with the first inbound date into Malta being 20 May and the final being 30 May.

KM Airlines said that the first return date out of Malta would be 23 May, and the final being 3 June of this year.

Persons eligible for these special election fares are those whose name appears in the Electoral Registers published by the Electoral Commission, including their direct dependants (a spouse or child or stepchild under the age of eighteen).

Those eligible will be able to benefit of a special election fare of €90 return (inclusive of all taxes and charges) in Economy Plus (including a small bag, 10kg cabin bag, and 20kg checked bag).

Infants who have not reached their second birthday may travel for a fee of €9 (inclusive of all taxes and charges) provided they do not occupy a seat.

Travel will be permitted on scheduled KM Malta Airlines operated flights only, and all travel must take place into and out of the same city.

Tickets will be non-refundable and no change in travel dates is permitted.

KM Malta Airlines also announced that it will operate extra flights to Brussels and London Gatwick on the following dates:

Sunday 31 May: Malta / London Gatwick / Malta (pm)

Monday 1 June: Malta / London Gatwick / Malta (pm)

Tuesday 2 June: Malta / London Gatwick / Malta (pm)

Monday 1 June: Malta / Brussels / Malta (am)

Tuesday 2 June: Malta / Brussels / Malta (am)

Those eligible voters who qualify for these special fares, and who have already made an alternative booking with KM Malta Airlines for travel between 20 May and 3 June may request either a full refund of their existing ticket or to change their tickets to different dates of travel at no charge but subject to the payment of any difference in fare.

These adjustments must be processed through the dedicated General Election Call Centre (+356 2141 8118) at the time of booking, the statement said.
