The Minister for Education, Sport, Youth, Research, and Innovation, Clifton Grima, has announced a significant investment to modernize the football ground in San Gwann.

Spanning approximately 4,500 square meters, the project aims to provide a high-quality, modern, and secure environment for the local community, particularly students from the adjacent primary school and young athletes.

The upgrades will feature a complete replacement of the existing surface with new synthetic turf and the installation of updated perimeter fencing to enhance safety and facility control.

This initiative is part of a broader investment strategy managed by the Foundation for Tomorrow's Schools, which allocated over €1.3 million toward school sports facilities in 2025 alone. Similar infrastructure projects are currently in the procurement stage for localities including Fgura, Dingli, Kirkop, and Santa Luċija.

Beyond physical infrastructure, the project emphasizes sports integrity and technical growth. The Authority for Integrity in Maltese Sport (AIMS) will collaborate with the San Gwann Local Council to promote good governance and launch an educational program during the club's summer training camp, covering topics such as anti-doping and safeguarding.

Additionally, San Gwann FC has utilized innovation funds to acquire modern match analysis equipment to improve player performance. Minister Grima highlighted that these investments are essential for fostering discipline and a healthy lifestyle within the community, ensuring that local youth have access to the best possible facilities for their physical and personal development.
