A regenerated public garden in Marsaskala was officially inaugurated on Friday as part of a broader infrastructure and regeneration programme currently under way in the southern locality.

The Ġnien tal-Fajtata project included extensive refurbishment works aimed at creating a more modern and family-friendly open space. Upgrades included new children's play equipment, shaded areas, benches, tables, improved lighting systems, refurbished public toilets, and safer railings throughout the site.

The project also featured rebuilt pathways, new trees and shrubs, a modern irrigation system, and a new ramp providing improved access to the rocky coastline for persons with disabilities. Parking facilities near the garden were also upgraded using materials intended to better complement the surrounding environment.

Infrastructure Minister Chris Bonett said the project forms part of a wider vision for Marsaskala, where several other interventions are currently taking place. These include the regeneration of the promenade, coastal protection works at St Thomas Bay, road reconstruction projects, and preparations to connect the locality to Malta's sea transport network.

Bonett said the investment aims to improve the quality of life for residents and visitors while preserving and enhancing the locality's natural coastal environment.
