Three men hospitalised after scaffolding collapses at Marsa recycling plant

Three men were injured after scaffolding they were standing on collapsed at a recycling plant in Marsa on Tuesday afternoon, the police said in a statement.

Police said they were informed at around 3.15pm that assistance was needed at a recycling plant in Triq il-Belt Valletta, Marsa.

Officers went immediately to the scene and preliminary investigations showed that three men aged 40, 27 and 23, all residing in St Paul's Bay, were injured after scaffolding they were on gave way, the statement said.

Members of the Civil Protection Department and a medical team were called to the scene to assist the workers before the injured men were taken to Mater Dei Hospital by ambulance.

Police said the 40-year-old man and the 23-year-old man were later certified as suffering from grievous injuries, while the condition of the 27-year-old man is still pending.

Investigations by the police and the Occupational Health and Safety Authority are ongoing, the statement said.
