Madeleine Vella Satariano to present her exhibition in Gozo

Sunday, 24 May 2026, 08:15 Last update: about 2 months ago

Artist Madeleine Vella Satariano will open her eighth solo exhibition, Fingers on the Canvas, and her second exhibition in Gozo, at "art..e Gallery", in Victoria.  The exhibition brings together a collection of works that reflect her distinctive artistic style, recognised for its brightness, movement and uplifting energy.

Those familiar with Madeleine's work immediately identify her expressive use of vivid, unspoiled colour.  Her palette mirrors the light and warmth of the Maltese Islands, while her compositions often draw inspiration from the surrounding countryside, creating a sense of calm, serenity and natural beauty.  Within these peaceful landscapes, Madeleine introduces powerful elements of movement, whether through the striking image of a horse in motion or the force of rough seas and towering waves.  These subjects convey a strong sense of freedom and vitality, qualities that remain central to her artistic expression.

What makes Madeleine's work especially distinctive is her technique: she draws and paints using her fingers. Although this method is demanding, time-consuming, and physically taxing, it allows her to shape each piece in an instinctive and deep personal way.  Rather than seeking photographic  precision, she embraces the raw, human quality of finger painting, making her work more immediate and emotionally relatable.

Fingers on the Canvas, will be inaugurated by Kurt Cassar B.A Archaeology Hons., M.A Cultural Sustainability & Tourism (Melit.), on 6 June at 7pm.  This exhibition will remain open till the 28 June.

Opening hours: Monday to Saturday from 9.30 till 12.15pm and Sunday from 10am till 12pm
