Voter turnout among hospital patients reached 83.64% by 10pm on Thursday, according to figures released by the Electoral Commission.

Those who voted on 28 May were patients at Mater Dei Hospital, Mount Carmel Hospital, Gozo General Hospital, Sir Anthony Mamo Oncology Centre and Karin Grech Hospital ahead of Saturday's general election.

The Electoral Commission said that 956 votes had been cast out of 1,143 registered voters by the time voting concluded at 10pm, resulting in an approximate turnout of 83.64%.

Earlier on Thursday, the Electoral Commission issued an update that at 2pm, the turnout stood at 64.39%, with 736 votes cast.
