A number of leading business, tourism and trade union organisations have congratulated the Labour Party on its general election victory and the re-election of Prime Minister Robert Abela, while pledging continued cooperation with the Government during the new legislature.
The Malta Chamber congratulated Labour on its electoral success and said it remained committed to working on initiatives that improve the business landscape, competitiveness and ease of doing business. It stressed its willingness to continue collaborating with the Government, Opposition and all politicians acting in the national interest, while maintaining its role in social dialogue and policy development.
The Malta Chamber of SMEs also extended its congratulations to Abela following his swearing-in and expressed its hope that the open communication channels established in recent years would continue. The organisation said it looked forward to maintaining constructive discussions with both Government and Opposition in the interests of SMEs and the wider economy.
The Gozo Tourism Association congratulated Abela on the renewed mandate entrusted to him by voters and wished his administration a productive term in office. It called for continued support for the tourism sector and reaffirmed its commitment to working closely with Government to promote sustainable, high-quality tourism.
Meanwhile, the Gozo Business Chamber described the election as a democratic exercise reflecting the country's aspirations and said it remained committed to working with Government on Gozo's strategic priorities. The Chamber emphasised that dialogue between Government, civil society and the Opposition remains essential for the island's continued development.
Forum Unions Maltin congratulated Labour on its victory and expressed the hope that the interests of workers and families would continue to be safeguarded during the new legislature. The confederation also thanked all political parties for what it described as a smooth and democratic electoral campaign.
The Malta Hotels and Restaurants Association (MHRA) said the result provided the Government with a strong mandate to address key national challenges and deliver on its electoral commitments. The association highlighted the importance of competitiveness, sustainable growth and social dialogue, while reaffirming its support for policies that encourage investment, innovation and skills development.
The General Workers' Union (GWU) described the election result as a clear democratic expression of the people's will and said it looked forward to continuing its work in favour of workers and families. The union reiterated its commitment to social dialogue, decent work, better wages and fair working conditions, while pledging continued cooperation with Government and social partners to ensure sustainable and inclusive progress.
Malta Employers congratulated the Partit Laburista on its victory in the General Election and looks forward to engaging in constructive social dialogue with Prime Minister Dr Robert Abela and the new Government on the key economic and social challenges facing the country, particularly those relating to employment, industrial relations, competitiveness and sustainable economic development.
The association also congratulated the Partit Nazzjonalista and its leader, Dr Alex Borg, on the in-roads registered in this election. A stronger and more effective Opposition is an essential pillar for a healthier democracy, good governance and better accountability throughout the forthcoming legislature.
