A 37-year-old Albanian man residing in Sannat, Gozo has been arrested following police action in connection to alleged drug trafficking.

On Wednesday night, the police received reports on a Mazda vehicle’s suspicious movements in Triq Ulisse, which is located in the limits of Marsalforn and Żebbuġ in Gozo.

Following these reports, officers immediately arrived at the scene where they noticed a person about to enter this car. The driver was soon arrested on suspicion of drug trafficking, the police said.

Unspecified amounts of cocaine and cannabis were found inside the car during the search that followed.

The police said that these drugs appeared ready for trafficking and were found alongside other drug-related items, such as a digital scale, a diary, and an undisclosed amount of cash.

The police added that the Albanian man is currently being held under arrest and is expected to be brought before the Gozitan Courts on Friday morning, at 8:30am, before Magistrate Jean Paul Grech.
