More than 29,000 people have registered and started the government’s AI għal Kulħadd programme within the first seven weeks of its launch, according to Economy, Technology and Strategic Projects Minister Silvio Schembri.
Replying to a parliamentary question by Labour MP Romilda Zarb, Schembri described AI għal Kulħadd as a national educational programme designed to introduce Maltese residents aged 14 and over to the basic and fundamental principles of artificial intelligence.
Schembri said the initiative begins with three courses focusing on AI fundamentals, AI for everyday life and AI for learning. Participants who complete the courses and answer the related assessments reach a level of knowledge intended to support the safe use of AI technologies.
Those who successfully complete all three courses receive a certificate confirming their achievement. In addition, participants are granted one year of free access to either ChatGPT Plus or Microsoft 365 Personal.
Schembri said the programme’s first phase has recorded strong participation levels. Of the more than 29,000 individuals who registered and began the programme, 15,839 completed all three courses and received a one-year subscription to one of the AI tools offered through the scheme.
Schembri described the initial results as highly positive, highlighting the strong public interest in acquiring practical AI skills and knowledge through the national initiative.
