Internationally renowned DJ Calvin Harris closed out this year's edition of SummerDaze Malta in Ta' Qali following his sold-out performance on Saturday night.

The Malta Tourism Authority said that Harris brought the seventh edition of this festival to a spectacular close after delivering what became to be "one of Malta's biggest electronic music events of recent years."

Calvin Harris, one of the most successful music artists and record producers of this age, headlined the closing of SummerDaze this weekend in front of a jam-packed crowd of thousands of people at the Ta' Qali Concert Area.

Over his 20-year career, Calvin Harris has established himself as one of the biggest artists in the world of electronic dance music (EDM).

In September 2014, he became the first UK artist to surpass 1 billion Spotify streams. Grossing millions worldwide and collaborating with some of the world's best-known artists, just a few of his biggest hits are "One Kiss" with Dua Lipa, "I Need Your Love" featuring Ellie Goulding, and his collaboration with Rihanna, "We Found Love."

The SummerDaze festival opened on Tuesday and was headlined that evening by the internationally acclaimed singer-songwriter Lewis Capaldi.

Capaldi rose to fame in more recent years with worldwide hits such as "Someone You Loved," "Pointless," and "Wish You the Best."

The MTA stated that "the second night further cemented SummerDaze as an annual staple in the Maltese events calendar," while referencing the two headline acts.

Calvin Harris was joined on Saturday by a mix of local and international talent, such as Arielle Free, Jeremiah Asiamah, Tyson O'Brien, and DJ Ziggy, amongst others.

"The festival once again demonstrated Malta's ability to host high-profile international productions, while strengthening the Islands' tourism offering by attracting visitors seeking quality entertainment and creating valuable opportunities for local communities to participate in such events," the MTA said.

The MTA concluded its statement on this annual summer musical event by extending its gratitude towards all artists, organisers, production teams, local performers, partners, and everyone else who attended and/or contributed to the success of this year's edition of SummerDaze Malta.
