The nomination period for Premju għall-Arti 2026 is entering its final days, with applications open until September 1 at noon. The awards are organised by Arts Council Malta in what's now become a yearly national celebration of excellence, innovation, and achievement across the cultural and creative sectors. Artists, creative practitioners, organisations, producers, public and private entities, and members of the public have a final opportunity to nominate works, projects, productions, initiatives, and achievements that have made a significant contribution to Malta's cultural life.

Arts Council Malta has already received a strong number of nominations for this year's awards, with a diverse range of works, projects and achievements submitted for consideration. The response reflects the continued engagement of Malta's cultural and creative sectors and the breadth of artistic activity taking place across the sector.

The 2026 edition will recognise artistic work that was publicly presented between September 1, 2025 and August 31, 2026. Eligible nominations may include programmes, exhibitions, performances, publications, screenings, releases, artistic productions, projects, events, films, initiatives, and other creative works.

Individuals, organisations, collectives, cultural NGOs, companies and enterprises operating within the cultural and creative sectors, as well as public entities, and local film producers may all be nominated. Nominees must be Maltese or based in Malta, while groups and collectives should primarily be based and operating from Malta. Both original and adapted works are eligible.

Nominations may be submitted by members of the public as well as by artists and creative practitioners, producers and promoters, cultural organisations, public entities, and private entities. Self-nominations are also accepted and encouraged.

Unlike previous editions, nominations for Premju għall-Arti 2026 are being collected without predefined award categories. Once nominations close, Arts Council Malta will review all eligible submissions and establish the categories that will form part of the subsequent application and evaluation process.

Nominations must be submitted through the official Premju għall-Arti 2026 Google Form, with the full guidelines available through Arts Council Malta.
