A 17-year-old boy was seriously injured after losing control of an e-kick scooter and falling in Safi early on Sunday morning, police said in a statement.

The accident happened at around 3am in Triq iż-Żurrieq, Safi.

Police went immediately to the scene, where preliminary investigations found that the teenager had lost control of the e-kick scooter and fallen.

He was assisted by a medical team and taken by ambulance to Mater Dei Hospital, where he was later certified as having suffered serious injuries.

Police investigations into the accident are ongoing.
