Matthew Caruana Galizia has slammed the recent acquittal of Yorgen Fenech in the assassination of his mother, investigative journalist Daphne Caruana Galizia, declaring that Fenech "got away with murder" and demanding an immediate retrial.
In a public statement following the verdict, Caruana Galizia urged law enforcement to ignore fabricated leads from professional manipulators.
He emphasised that accountability is already within reach, citing Fenech's past petitions for a presidential pardon as proof of involvement.
Reflecting on the October 2017 car bomb attack that killed his mother, Caruana Galizia condemned Malta's political climate, asserting that the country remains a mafia state a decade later.
He pressed the government to confront what he views as a systemic failure to deliver justice and ensure genuine accountability.
