Sebastian Schembri, a 34-year-old man from Cospicua, has been identified as the motorcyclist who died in a traffic accident in Ħal Far on Friday morning.

Schembri was riding a motorcycle along Triq Ħal Far in Gudja when he lost control of the vehicle, which skidded and collided with a truck.

The truck was being driven by a 63-year-old man from Żurrieq.

A medical team was called to the scene to assist Schembri, but he was certified dead at the scene.

Magistrate Monica Borg Galea appointed an inquiry into the circumstances of the man's death.

Following news of Schembri's death, Christian Aquilina paid an emotional tribute to his friend in a Facebook post, describing him as someone who had become much more than a friend.

Aquilina said Schembri had been like a brother to him and a member of his family, adding that he was still struggling to come to terms with the fact that someone so close to him was suddenly gone.

He remembered the many moments they had shared, including their conversations and laughter, saying those memories would remain with him forever.

Aquilina also thanked Schembri for being there for him during difficult moments, for listening to him and for always being ready to share a laugh.

Concluding his tribute, Aquilina said that although Schembri had left this world, he would never leave his heart.
