"Malta & Bulgaria: Bridging Horizons", bringing together Maltese sculptor Jennings Falzon and Bulgarian artist Nina Ruseva, was officially opened at the State Institute for Culture within the Bulgarian Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Sofia.

The opening was attended by members of the diplomatic corps, honorary consuls, representatives of Bulgarian institutions, the cultural sector and the business community.

The ceremony included addresses by Yavor Koinakov, Director of the State Institute for Culture; Dr Boris Boyanov, Honorary Consul of Malta in Bulgaria; Emil Iliev, Mayor of Strumyani; and H.E. Anne Marie Muscat Fenech Adami, Non-Resident Ambassador of Malta to Bulgaria. The ceremony was presented by Marisa Falzon.

Ambassador Muscat Fenech Adami highlighted the important role of cultural diplomacy in strengthening friendship and people-to-people relations between Malta and Bulgaria. The occasion also provided an opportunity to express solidarity with the Municipality of Strumyani following the recent flooding.

The Sofia exhibition was supported through the Cultural Diplomacy Fund of Malta's Ministry for Foreign and European Affairs and has received significant media coverage in Bulgaria.

Following its presentation in Sofia, "Bridging Horizons" will continue in Malta, with the opening taking place on 6 November 2026 at Tal-Għaqba Windmill in Naxxar. The Malta exhibition, funded by the Malta Tourism Authority, will run until 11 November 2026, further strengthening cultural exchange between Malta and Bulgaria.
