The government has pledged to continue improving the conditions for artists and creative professionals to build sustainable careers, as Prime Minister Robert Abela met representatives of the Malta Entertainment Industry and Arts Association (MEIA) ahead of the 2027 Budget.
He attributed progress made to continued cooperation with industry operators, as well as schemes and incentives that have been made available to artists and creative professionals.
Abela reiterated the government's commitment to improving the conditions in which artists and creative professionals can develop sustainable careers, strengthen their skills and access greater professional opportunities.
He acknowledged that challenges remain and said the government would continue engaging with the sector to build on measures already introduced and identify new initiatives that address the needs of artists and creative professionals.
The meeting also acknowledged MEIA's contribution to the pre-Budget consultation process, including a document submitted by the association containing proposals for the 2027 Budget.
Abela's meeting with MEIA forms part of a wider series of consultations being held by the government with different sectors and stakeholders ahead of next year's Budget.
Ministers Clyde Caruana, Jo Etienne Abela, Malcolm Paul Agius Galea and Omar Farrugia, as well as MP Nigel Vella, were also present for the meeting.
