Energy Minister Miriam Dalli said on Monday that the National Audit Office (NAO) is currently analysing how many households were affected by recent power cuts, as part of an ongoing audit process.

Minister Dalli shared this information in reply to a parliamentary question asked by Opposition MP Mark Anthony Sammut, on how many households were affected by power outages between 1 May 2026 till now.

In response, Minister Dalli said she was informed that the information requested "is currently being collected and examined by the National Audit Office (NAO) in the context of an ongoing audit process."

Over these past months, power outages have rocked the Maltese islands time and time again. Most recently, on Thursday, 8 October 2026, large areas across Malta and Gozo were hit by sudden power cuts that Enemalta, Malta's energy provider, later attributed to "human error."

Minister Dalli did not state when this NAO audit is set to be completed or published.
