The Labour Party welcomed the news that Alex Agius Saliba has once again been elected and, consequently, confirmed as Vice-President of the Socialists and Democrats Group, a position he will hold until the end of the European parliamentary term.
In his role as Vice-President, he will be responsible for the Group’s social policy, affordable housing and digital policy, expanding on the responsibilities he already held and covering some of the most important issues at European level, the party said.
The PL said that this responsibility also represents a vote of confidence in the work carried out by Agius Saliba, together with the rest of the Labour delegation in the European Parliament.
Commenting after the result was announced, Alex Agius Saliba said: “I am honoured to be part of the leadership of the second-largest political group in the European Parliament for another two and a half years. I will continue working, as I always have, in the best interests of Malta and Gozo at European level.”
