The Malta Society of Arts, Manufactures and Commerce, with the collaboration of the Malta Trade Fair Corporation, held a very successful art exhibition during the recent International Fair at Naxxar.

Sixth-nine local artists participated with a total of 140 works of art. These varied from the abstract to figurative, from oil and acrylics to watercolour and pastel. A good number of stone carvings and ceramic sculptures were also on show.

This annual exhibition serves as an opportunity for many artists, members of the Society, both young, promising artists as well as more mature artists, to display their work as many of them would not have the means to do so. It also gives the general public the opportunity to view works by artists who are not so much in the public eye.

Prime Minister Dr Lawrence Gonzi and Mrs Gonzi, who visited the exhibition, praised the high level of the works on display.

The president of the Society, Paul Asciak presented all participating artists with a Certificate of Participation during the inauguration.
