Time For ‘Bla Kondixin’

Malta Independent Sunday, 7 October 2007, 00:00 Last update: about 11 years ago

The election virus is already spreading and soon all Malta, or nearly, will become feverish. Soon it will be time to think seriously and only about elections. Why? Because it’s a serious matter if there ever was one... or is it?

Over the years, Bla Kondixin has built a reputation for biting satire and original humour, using the talents of the most popular Maltese comedians. A whole array of zany characters take to the stage in this festival of satire, each trying to outbid and outwit the other in making every evening one of non-stop delight and laughter.

Among the many guests will be Hector Bruno with his inimitable stage presence. Mario “Snits” Spiteri returns as the unlucky Ciklist. Paul Portelli plays a range of characters – the most recognisable and well-loved of which is the Lajburist. Dominic Said and P. J. Xerxen need no prodding to concoct the most eccentric of characters.

This year Bla Kondixin will be presenting several new sketches. A well known personality will be “interviewed” live each night. The audience will vote on how well the personality fared during the interview and a failure will cost the guest dearly!

Another innovation is the participation of the audience through a contribution of a joke. Jokes can be sent to [email protected], and the best (and the worst!) joke will be awarded the honour of being performed live with credit being given to the sender.

Bla Kondixin 2007 will be held at the Sir Temi Zammit, University of Malta, on 19, 20, 21, 26, 27, 28 October and 2, 3, 4 November. Performances start at 7.30pm.

Booking is open from St James Cavalier Centre for Creativity on 2122 3216, or send an email on: [email protected] Visit the web site www.blakondixin.com.
