Malta Independent Tuesday, 12 February 2008, 00:00 Last update: about 17 years ago

The electoral commission said the dates for the submission by the political parties of lists of persons’ names for various offices have been extended, according to a notice in the Government Gazette of 7 February.

The parties have until 15 February to submit the list of persons they want to nominate as assistant commissioners, vote counters or persons to supervise the vote counting process.

The dates for the submission of names for the various tasks are: candidate’s agent, until 13 February; party agents and district agents, until 14 February; and transport agents, counting agents, and distribution agents, until 15 February.

The distribution by the police of voting documents for the general election and, where applicable, for the local elections, starts today. Distribution times are 8am to 1pm, and 3 to 8pm every day of the week, including this coming Sunday, up to Saturday, 23 February.

The electoral commission said there should be someone at home who is at least 18 years of age, to receive, and sign for the documents. Party representatives may accompany the police, and they will have an authorisation ticket issued by the electoral commission, to be shown on demand.
