Two AFM Officers in Georgia

Malta is sending two officers, from the AFM’s C Special Duties Company, with the 263 monitors from EU member states going to Georgia. The two monitors will carry out such duty and join the European Union Monitoring Mission on a voluntary basis.

The main tasks of the monitor for the European Union Monitoring Mission in Georgia, includes to analyse and report on the situation to the stabilisation process, centred on full compliance with the six-point agreement; monitor analyse and report on the situation pertaining to the normalisation process of civil governance focusing on the rule of law, effective law enforcement structures and adequate public order; monitor the human rights and implementation of the human rights measures in conformity with the mission mandate and tasks; and address the key and most urgent issues related to a possible need for monitoring tasks to be conducted by the EU.

During the EU council meeting, it was agreed that this EU Monitoring Mission should take place by 1 October.
