At a press conference held to give details of the show, Mr Attard said that Ramazzotti can be considered one of the most popular artists in Italy. After negotiations with his management, NnG promotions, together with their main sponsors Coca-Cola, will be putting on a two-and-a-half hour show that promises to be an event to remember.

There has been a high demand for tickets, continued Mr Attard, and it is hoped that the concert will attract even more people than the one by Elton John last year. He explained that Eros Ramazzotti will be coming to Malta as part of his current tour and one of the largest stages Malta has ever seen will be constructed in the Luxol car park.

The venue had been chosen in order to cause the least inconvenience possible, especially in terms of traffic and parking. The car park has previously been used to hold large numbers of people and Mr Attard said that they did not expect there to be too many problems.

Twelve 40-foot trailers will be carrying all the equipment needed to set up the stage, which will measure 50 by 30 metres said Mr Attard, adding that Ramazzotti’s crew will be made up of 90 people.

Tourism and Culture Minister Francis Zammit Dimech said that the ministry, which had provided financial and logistical help, was pleased to be involved in such a high calibre event.

The Lm15 general admission tickets are on sale at Maltapost outlets and the Lm30 general seating ones can be purchased from Franks perfumery shops. The silver and golden circle tickets, costing Lm35 and Lm50 respectively, are available from Sandro Azzopardi Jewellers.
