Immediate steps were taken by the Enemalta Corporation to restore supply in the shortest time possible. In fact, it was restored in all localities by 4.30pm.

Two separate faults that developed on Tuesday caused the electricity service to be temporarily disrupted in Zabbar and Hal-Far. In Zabbar, the fault occurred around 8.30am. The fault was due to low-voltage works that had to be attended to at a Zabbar substation. In the case of Hal-Far, a fault developed in a high-voltage underground cable at around 8pm.

In both cases, immediate steps were taken by Enemalta to restore supply in the shortest time possible in the affected localities.

In fact, the electricity supply in Zabbar was restored around 11.15am while in Hal-Far the supply was back to normal by 10.30pm.

The statement said that at 4.40am, a fault occurred in the distribution system supplying electricity to the St Julian’s area.

The electricity service in parts of Sliema was restored by 7.30am and in parts of St Julian’s it was was restored by 8am. The electricity service in the remaining areas that were affected by this interruption was brought back to normal by 9.30am.

Investigations are still being carried out. Enemalta Corporation regretted any inconvenience caused by these power interruptions
