The Capital Goods Turnover Index fell by 21.6 per cent, from 96.6 in June 2003 to 75.7 in June 2004.
During June 2004, the Turnover Index of Consumer Durables Goods group increased by 0.3 per cent over June last year. The Consumer Non-Durables Goods Turnover Index fell by 0.9 per cent in June 2004 over June 2003. The Employ-ment Index recorded a fall of 2.5 per cent, from 97.4 in June 2003 to 95 in June 2004. In the same period, the Wages and Salaries Index rose by 0.6 per cent, from 113.1 to 113.8.
The turnover index of the energy group fell by 14.1 per cent, from 93.0 in June 2003 to 79.9 in June 2004. In the same period under review, the Employment Index increased by 17.1 per cent. There was also an increase of 13.1 per cent in its Wages and Salaries Index, from 104.2 in June 2003 to 117.9 in June 2004.
During June 2004, the Turnover Index of the Intermediate Goods group fell by 3.1 per cent over June last year.
In the same period, this group registered a fall of 3.9 per cent in its Employment Index, from 101.4 to 97.4, and a decrease in its Wages and Salaries Index of 0.5 per cent from 116.1 in June 2003 to 115.5 in June 2004.
The Total Industry Turnover Index declined by 3.8 per cent, from 115.5 to 111.1
The Total Industry’s Employment and Wages and Salaries Indices increased by 1.2 per cent and 4.3 per cent respectively in June this year when compared to June last year.
