The fund-raising event will keep the party’s campaign slogan: Xoghol, Harsien, Dignita, (Work, Protection, Dignity) and is aimed at raising some Lm20,000.

Like any other organisation, said Dr Falzon, the party needs funds to be able to work, and therefore any donations will be greatly appreciated, but added that raising money is not the only aim.

“It’s not only about the money. As is the case each year, the headquarters are open to the public during the event and this provides a very good opportunity for the party to meet its supporters.”

There will not be a great emphasis on prize give-aways, as has been the case occasionally in the past, said Dr Falzon, but the MLP will be giving a Lm6 discount voucher for every donation made personally at the headquarters, whatever the amount of the donation. In addition, there will be a draw in which everyone who donates money will participate.

The details of both events will be broadcast in the next few days. However, Lm3 donations may be made by sending a blank SMS to the number 5061-8900.
